Lincoln Peak Vineyard Sets Grand Opening Date For July 12

06-25-08

Vermont’s newest hardy-grape vintner to offer guided vineyard tours and wine tastings.

New Haven, VT, June 25, 2008 – Lincoln Peak Vineyard is officially opening the doors of its winery to the public and sharing its latest wine creations on July 12, 2008. The Grand Opening will feature guided vineyard tours, tours of the newly-built wine-making facility, as well as samples their estate-bottled wines, produced entirely from grapes grown in their vineyards.

“We’ve been farming strawberries, apples and grapes in the Champlain Valley for 23 years now,” shares Chris and Michaela Granstrom, husband and wife owners. “ With the newest developments in hardy grape varieties, making fine wine from Vermont-grown grapes is now a reality.”

The Granstroms expect to harvest 45 tons of grapes from their 12-acre vineyard in 2008, which is probably the largest grape harvest ever made on a Vermont farm. “We make both red and white wines, some dry and some a little sweet,” the Granstroms said, “there is something to appeal to almost any taste.”

“We’ve studied the land and we’ve study and refined the growing conditions necessary to produce a good quality wine grape,” adds Chris Granstrom. “We now invite the community to enjoy the fruits of this effort. The wine business in Vermont is certainly in its infancy, but good Vermont wine is the next frontier. We’re excited to be a part of it.”

In addition to growing grapes and making wines, the Granstroms have operated a grapevine nursery for several years, supplying these hardy vines to other growers in northern states. Wines and vines are available for purchase at the New Haven location Wednesday through Sunday, or online at www.lincolnpeakvineyard.com.
